CV: Culture and Outdoor Life
Hardanger åtgaum
Hardanger åtgaum is a company that combines interests in culture, history, and nature through various activities. Events include the Hardinglaup (a long-distance cross-country ski race in unmarked high mountain terrain), Breidablik Opp (a traditional uphill race to the stone huts built by Bjarne Huse), guided tours to Trolltunga in winter, and across Hallingskarvet. Additionally, we have attempted to combine musical experiences with the mountain landscape. A highlight was an outdoor concert with the Norwegian blackjazz band Shining at Trolltunga in 2015. Hardanger Åtgaum proudly carries the brand "I am a Harding."

Expeditions
2014: Norwegian Constitution Celebration Expedition
In 2014, six people from Hardanger set out on a journey from Hardanger to Oslo as part of the constitution anniversary "Hardanger 2014." Accompanying them was a figure of Arnoldus von Westen Sylow Koren, the only constitution framer from Hardanger. The journey culminated at Oslo Concert Hall, where there was a grand Hardanger event for a full house with the Prime Minister as the guest of honor. We had the honor of greeting her – and vice versa.
2017: Ekspedition Nansen 1884
In the winter of 2017, ten people from Hardanger embarked on a journey from Bergen to Oslo, retracing the footsteps of Fridtjof Nansen. In the winter of 1883, the young and fearless student Nansen read an announcement in the journal *Norsk Idrætsblad* about a ski race to be held in Oslo. He set off in the new year, participated in the Huseby race, and then returned. We recreated his route using traditional equipment, clothing, and food in the winter of 2017.
This journey, along with Nansen’s, was covered in travelogues shared through Åsnes: [https://harding.asnes.com/](https://harding.asnes.com/)
Two Themed Long-Distance Journeys Between East and West: 2014 and 2017
2021: Queen Sonja`s Honorary March
In March 2021, a group of people from Hardanger embarked on a long-distance journey from Hardanger to Oslo as part of Queen Sonja's Honorary March. The journey focused on rituals connected to the mountains and the historical links between east and west across the plateau. The route went from Lofthus to Oslo with sledges filled with ritual and cultural gifts. The expedition concluded with a meeting in Oslo with the Queen, where the gifts were presented.
2022/2023: Nansen to the South Pole
A 40-day expedition without resupply from Hercules Inlet to the South Pole, inspired by Fridtjof Nansen and his unfinished dream of reaching the South Pole. An incredible journey with my partner Kjartan Bergsvåg. We started as friends and ended as brothers.
Personal Statement
I am Arne-Kristian Teigland, known among friends as AK. Growing up on a farm in Øystese, Hardanger, I developed an early passion for the outdoors through hikes with my father, often clad in jeans and logging boots, and through the scouting movement where we learned to sleep in wet sleeping bags. My cultural upbringing was influenced by the hard rock music enjoyed by the tough farmers in the neighborhood.
